My name is Sam Roundtree, and I started Roundtree Designs with a simple goal: to create beautiful, functional pieces from solid timber.

I was born into long line of carpenters and craftsmen in Northern California, and my childhood was spent in the workshop. I developed an early appreciation for the raw materials, tactile process, and enduring beauty of handcrafted furniture - there’s an indescribable warmth and value to handmade objects, and I feel that in a world of flatpack and disposable design, building something to last generations is both a nod to the past and a middle finger to the present... and it feels like art.

Now based in Fitzroy, I work alongside my dog, Charlie, driven by the philosophy that true sustainability is buying once, and buying well.
